My Top 14 Lessons of 2019

Phew! 2019! What a year. I’ve had to endure crushing setbacks, I’ve made self-inflicted mistakes and also have tremendous and unexpected successes. Of all these, I’ve not only learned but grown, and I’d like to share some of the lessons i learned. I hope it inspires someone, I hope it helps. I’ll also like to learn some of the lessons you learned this year, kindly drop them in the comment section. Life is too short to be wasted on unimportant stuff.

Save money, for both good and bad days.

Diversify your portfolio, have multiple streams of income.

Keep friends and loved ones very close, reach out every now and then.

Dissociate yourself from people that bring you down, don’t respect you or see you as a threat.

Stop doing things that don’t bring value into your life, focus on the few things that actually matter.

Use social media wisely, make new friends, follow smart people but block, mute or unfriend negative or deceitful ones.

Know what to share and what not to, it’s okay to live like it’s the 80s.

Focus on yourself, your goals. It’s easy to get distracted by the whims of the crowd. Better to be alone than in the wrong crowd.

Streamline activities, master a few things. Doing many things is a good way to get carried away.

Plan like a strategist, execute like a mafia. Don’t leave anything to chance, hope is not a strategy for growth.

Be humble, but be crazy if you have to. Learn when to use both virtues.

A friend is someone you both can sacrifice your life for irrespective of gender, tribe, race or religion.

Choosing a business partner is akin to choosing a spouse, you’re like soulmates. Take your time and commit your all.

We are not imprisoned by our circumstances. We are not imprisoned by the luck we get or the inherent unfairness of life. We’re also not imprisoned by the times in which we live or by the hours in a day.
